Balsam Mountain Roller Girls

Haywood county's first womens flat track roller derby team located in Waynesville, Western North Carolina

Not sure what Roller Derby is all about? Modern day Roller Derby is not the roller derby of the 1970’s with women who are out to kill each other. Today’s Roller Derby is a serious sport combining strategy, athleticism and teamwork. Leagues, both adult and junior, are gaining in popularity as more people (especially women) want to participate in a team sport but not necessarily the “traditional” sports.

Balsam Mountain Roller Girls is the first Women’s Flat Track Roller Derby League in Haywood County, North Carolina!

Today’s modern roller girl is vastly different from those made famous in the 1970s. Balsam Mountain Roller Girls is proud to be represented by women from all over Western North Carolina, each of whom is as diverse as the area. While we pride ourselves on being athletes, we are also mothers, professionals, artists, students and much, much more. Every skater brings something indispensable to the league and together, we are making roller derby the most dangerous thing to hit Western North Carolina since moonshine!
